Small bit of good news for those who enjoy their morning espressos ready to go. La Marzocco has rolled out version 1.5.2 of its home espresso machine app, introducing two practical features designed to address common connectivity and workflow challenges.
Smart Schedule automatically powers on machines based on their warm-up time, ensuring they reach target brewing temperature precisely at the scheduled time. If a user sets a machine to turn on at 7:00 a.m., the app initiates heating a few minutes earlier so it’s ready to brew right on schedule. The feature reduces waiting time and optimizes energy consumption for a seamless espresso routine.
Local Mode allows the app to maintain connection via Bluetooth Low Energy when Wi-Fi is unavailable. If a machine loses connection due to a router change, network issue, or being moved to a new space, the app automatically searches for it via Bluetooth. When found, Local Mode activates, giving users access to essential controls without needing to re-establish Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can change machine status, adjust coffee and steam boiler temperatures, and modify automatic standby settings. However, not all widgets are available in Local Mode, and Connected Ecosystem features like brew-by-weight remain unavailable in offline operation.
The Linea Mini and Micra represent La Marzocco’s entry into the home espresso market, bringing professional-grade engineering and temperature stability to compact form factors. Both machines feature the company’s signature heat exchanger technology and app connectivity, making them popular choices for serious home enthusiasts. The Mini suits standard kitchen countertops, while the Micra offers an even more compact footprint for space-constrained setups. The GS3 also receives these new features.
Both updates are now available in the unified La Marzocco App, which consolidates control of home espresso machines, grinders, and scales into a single interface. The app is designed to ensure consistent functionality across varied environments, from home setups to Coffee Station configurations for events, classes, or pop-ups where Wi-Fi may not be available.
