2007 Guglielmo Private Reserve Sangiovese, Central Coast (87 pts, $16)

Located in Morgan Hill, just south of Silicon Valley, Guglielmo Winery produces about 40,000 cases per year. They sent a Petite Sirah and this Sangiovese to Stark Insider, and between the two I preferred the Sangio by a wide margin. It’s dark, rich and luscious — just like J. Lo come to think of it. At $16 it’s a good value too. Just don’t expect a world of complexity or nuance… the fuit here is ready to play. I like the pepper, always welcome in my books. 87 pts, $16. 845 cases.
