Wake me up when November almost ends. American Idiot (review), the show everyone—and I mean everyone—has been talking about, blogging about, videoing about, writing about, chatting about, Tweeting about, YouTubing and Facebooking about, has been extended to November 15 at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Is it just me or is Bay Area Theater on a roll? Extensions are in the air. It must be fall.

The show is the top-grossing production in the 41-year history of the Rep.

So this might suggest something about its commercial viability and potential for other runs; nothing like strong ticket sales to get people to notice.

I think I’ve just about exorcised the music from my head—some 2 weeks after seeing it in Berkeley. It’s almost impossible to shake the energy and addictive St. Jimmy-like catchiness. Although I have to keep correcting Loni when she sings it like, “Are we, are we…” Then again, for a while I thought Holiday was a Madonna cover.
