Celebrity voices are coming to our assistants. As far as we know the first “cameo” is John Legend.

You can now set your Google Assistant devices to John Legend mode. Instead of the standard generic voice that responds to your commands you’ll now hear the butter smooth voice of legend John Legend. You can see him in action here in this Google video:

Google Assistant: Now featuring the voice of John Legend

“You can find me in all kinds of devices,” John Legend himself says. “Phones. Google Homes. And, if I’m lucky, in your heart.”

Legend can do all the normal sorts of things you’d expect from Google Assistant. But there’s a few Easter Eggs, as you might expect. For instance, you can ask the Grammy-winner to sing you a very special version of “Happy Birthday”. Or try “Hey, Google, are we just ordinary people?”

John Legend is making a cameo on your Google Assistant. With answers, weather, and more in his voice, your day just got a little smoother. Just say “Hey Google, talk like a Legend” to get started.

To have your Google Assistant invoke John Legend celebrity mode just say “Hey, Google, talk like a Legend”. Alternatively, you can also dive into the Settings menu to do the same or to switch the Assistant voice back to the default.

Note that John Legend is only available in the U.S. and in English.

At Google I/O 2018 the company gave us a peak of 6 celebrity cameo voices. Expect more to come soon.
