Holiday Ice Rink returns to San Francisco’s Union Square

A portion of ticket proceeds benefit Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco and the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink returns to San Francisco’s Union Square beginning Wednesday, November 10, 2010 through Monday, January 17, 2011. Nestled in the heart of Union Square between Geary, Post, Powell and Stockton Streets, the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink is set to delight children and adults throughout the holiday season. A portion of ticket proceeds benefit Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco and the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

“We have an unbelievable location for holiday ice skating in the heart of San Francisco,” says Willy Bietak, Safeway Holiday Ice Rink producer and president of Willy Bietak Productions. “From families out for fun to couples on dates, everyone can expect to be charmed by the festive lights of Union Square and the magic of ice skating in one of the most treasured locales in the country.”

Beginning Wednesday, November 10, 2010 through Monday, January 17, 2011, skating novices and professionals will take to the ice from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. through 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink will close at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010.

Ticket prices for children eight years old and under are $4.50 Monday through Friday until 6 p.m. and $5 from 6 p.m. Friday through the closing session on Sunday. For adults, ticket prices are $9 Monday through Friday until 6 p.m. and $9.50 from 6 p.m. Friday through the closing session on Sunday. Ice skate rentals ($4) and hockey skate rentals ($5) will be available.

Advance tickets go on sale Monday, October 18, 2010 at www.unionsquareicerink.com/tickets. Starting Wednesday, November 10, 2010 tickets will be available at the ice rink ticket window in Union Square. Group rates and private parties are also available.
