Featuring Chris Ballew (Of the Presidents of the
United States of America and Casper Babypants)
SEATTLE – Oct. 12, 2009 – There’s an inner musician in many people and it’s no different for winemakers. For the second annual Wine Rocks Seattle, some of Washington’s best winemakers along with one wine writer and one nationally known rocker – will showcase their collective love of music. The event will take place at the urban Tom Douglas Palace Ballroom in Belltown. Guests will graze on gourmet food and taste amazing wines while “rocking” out to the performances throughout the evening.
Wine Rocks Seattle features Chris Ballew (a.k.a. Caspar Babypants) singer songwriter from The Presidents of the United States of America as the headline performer along with a select number of Washington wine personalities who will perform. Twenty different Washington wineries will be pouring along with an array of gourmet tastes by the Tom Douglas Catering/Palace Ballroom and Beecher’s Cheese.
Wine Rocks Seattle will raise funds for Chris Ballew’s favorite charity PEPS, Program for Early Parenting Support. Since 1983, PEPS has been bringing new parents together to connect and grow. Parents with children up to 3 years of age meet each week to share the earliest joys and challenges of parenthood and develop confidence in their own parenting abilities. For most parents, their PEPS Group provides a supportive community that lasts a lifetime. “I support PEPS because at the core of a healthy child/parent relationship is a parent that is aware, educated, informed and calm. PEPS helps parents be their best so babies can be their best too.” says Chris Ballew.

The evening will be emceed by Laura Moreau; considered the city’s Hostess with the Mostess. She’s a lover and performer of soul, jazz, rock, hip hop, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, and opera, with a voice that can knock you on your rear and then slowly ease you back up a little higher than before. She’s gone from humble theatrical and musical beginnings on to strange feats of strength … who else in this city has opened for and toured with Ice T (with a feminist rap, no less) From Showtime at the Apollo to the Sunset Lounge and the Triple Door, her vocals have been compared to Etta James and PJ Harvey, while sounding distinctly her own. And if you like a little dish with your dive, you can find her running the most popular karaoke night in Seattle, Saturdays at the achingly beautiful Crescent Lounge.
Wine Rocks Seattle “concert” T-shirts featuring performers and wineries will be available at the show. Guests must be 21 to attend. IDs will be checked at door. Space is limited keeping the event intimate and the winemakers approachable; to purchase tickets visit www.winerocksseattle.com.
