Things to do: SubZERO street festival tonight downtown San Jose

Looking for an artistic evening stroll, with some occasional Spontaneous Acts of Percussion?

SubZERO San JoseLooking for an artistic evening stroll, with some occasional Spontaneous Acts of Percussion?

There should be lots of interesting art, music and I’m sure plenty of the odd as well tonight at the SubZERO (not the fridge) street festival. Running from 6pm to midnight in the SoFA district downtown San Jose, the event billed as a “high/lo-techno-mashup” is organized by ZERO1 and South First Fridays.

Two stages will offer live performances plus plus 100 artists, performers, and musicians celebrating the indie creative spirit. Also on the schedule: a welcome by Mayor Reed (8:15pm).

One oddity that caught my eye: urban yarn-bombing. No, not the familiar rural kind. This would be the full-on urban stuff, you know, very hip. No, I have no idea what this is… but maybe we’ll get some first hand coverage tonight to see what this is really all about.

You can find more information including street maps and schedules on the SubZERO web site. Admission is free.
