mystery-bird-in-nest

For those of you interested in the type of bird that has laid four eggs in a nest in our courtyard, here is a photo of her sitting in the nest.

Now the question I have on my mind is, “How long does it take for a bird’s egg to hatch?”

I consulted the all knowing web and found that in does vary depending on species. However, generally it is about 21 days. I hope no other animals get to them and I can report in a little over two week from now that there are four healthy baby birds in the nest.

I have a package of natural organic pumpkin seeds (shell removed) that I was not crazy about so I sprinkled a few of them at the base of the large Camphor tree in the middle of the courtyard. It is a place that I have seen the bird peck at seeds.
