Berekeley Rep today announced that Frances McDormand would be appearing on stage next season at the theater.

The Academy Award-winning actress (Fargo) is scheduled to star as Lady Macbeth in Daniel Sullivan’s production of Macbeth. The show will start its run in February 2016. In addition to acting in films McDormand is no stranger to the stage. She’s collected numerous awards for theater, most recently Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance in Good People, also directed by Daniel Sullivan.

Other casting announcements include Steven Epp (7th appearance at Berkeley Rep) in Treasure Island, and Kathleen Chalflant in For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday.

Previously, the theater revealed actress Samantha Barks was cast in the lead in the word premiere of Amélie, A New Musical.

“We’re thrilled to have these esteemed and talented artists join us next season,” says Tony Taccone, Berkeley Rep’s Michael Leibert Artistic Director. “It’s a compliment to our vision of transformative theatre to have actors of this level of skill, pedigree, and ambition on board to fill these very pivotal roles. Frances is a signature artist whose body of work and commitment to the stage is unparalleled. We’re pleased that she will finally be making her Berkeley Rep debut. Kathleen is a revered actress and I’m elated that she will be returning to our stage in a highly poignant new play. The season wouldn’t be complete without Steven, a Berkeley Rep favorite who is talented in so many ways.”

The 7-play full season includes: Amélie, The Hypocrites’ Pirates of Penzance, Disgraced, Aubergine, Macbeth, Treasure Island, and For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday.
