The 29th Annual Fall Art Auction at the ICA

BY Monica Turner — 10.13.2009

What’s it all about?
Our Fall Art Exhibition and Auction features the work of over 150 Bay Area artists including sculpture, photography, drawings, prints, mixed media, and paintings.  This not-to-be-missed annual event celebrates artists and art supporters who believe in the mission of the ICA
Who benefits?
We all do! The auction offers you a wonderful opportunity to start and expand your collection while supporting artists in your community and the ICA’s exhibitions and programs. It’s win-win-win! When is it?
The Exhibition is on view now at the ICA through October 24th. We’ve extended our gallery hours (see below) to give you all the time in the world to visit the gallery, view the work, place bids and even Slam Dunk your favorite piece (or two) in the silent auction gallery. The Auction will be held on Saturday, October 24th. Auction doors open at 6pm. The auction begins promptly at 7pm.What’s a Slam Dunk?
Glad you asked!  A slam dunk means you can purchase any piece in the silent auction gallery for the “buy it now” price. And wait, it gets better. You don’t have to wait ’til auction nite to buy artwork. You can visit the auction exhibition at the gallery now, Slam Dunk and start your collection!

Where can I buy tickets?
First things first.  You can view the exhibition for free through Saturday, October 24th at 5pm.  If you want to Slam Dunk any piece in the silent auction gallery or join us on auction nite, you’ll need to buy a ticket. It’s $40p/ticket through October 23rd; $50p/ticket on auction day.

What if I can’t visit the gallery to see all of the fabulous work on view? Or, what if I want to buy a piece in the auction, but darn it, I’m not around on Oct 24th?
Good questions! You can visit the auction gallery online by clicking on this link right now! And, when you see the piece that you just can’t live without (and there are plenty of them), call us and we’ll set you up with an “absentee” ballot or help you Slam Dunk it if it’s in the silent auction gallery. Check and Check!

Will there be food and drink at the auction to fuel my spirits and zest for life and art?
Absolutely! Great minds think, drink and eat alike! Auction nite will be filled and fueled by a generous selection of complimentary wine, champagne and gourmet cocktail fare from the finest Bay Area establishments.

But, what if I have a late nite snack craving during the auction, like the ones we all get at home or when we’re on a cruise ship?  What then?
We hear ya!  We’ve already lined up the late-nite TACO TRUCK!! Yep, the TT is back by popular demand. After all, no art auction worth its salt is complete without a midnite taco and beer chaser.

Hmm, what other FAQ do I have?
Let’s recap: What is it? Check. When is it? Check. Why is it? Check. Where is it? Check.
Taco Truck? Check.

We are really looking forward to seeing you and celebrating with you at the Auction!
