Tabor Canyon Loreto

Guest posted submitted by Deborah Scanlon.

Our focus is so much on the sea in Loreto (as is natural) that some fun adventures and different areas of beauty can get overlooked.

It was a real treat this week to hike Tabor Canyon because the amount of water is AMAZING! And the weather was fantastic for this hike.

We only went to the section where you have to scramble the rock wall a few feet because basically I don’t like heights, but just the lower section was a real treat and a relatively easy hike.

If it was afternoon instead of morning I would have gotten in the water. It was warm enough which surprised me.

You can get a sense of scale and volume in this picture of Kristin leaping across the boulders to get to the small waterfalls. One crevice area had to be at least 6 feet deep!

We traveled with several of these little froggie fellows with orange spots….does anyone know if this is a frog or a toad? Nothing like we had ever seen….

Even when there isn’t a lot of water, this is a beautiful and fun hike. If you are in Loreto now…get out there!!
