Solar Update: December 2008

BY Loni Stark — 12.31.2008

horizon-energy-systems-logoIt’s been a busy December and I am happy to be spending a quiet New Year’s eve with Clint this evening.

We’re watching the World Junior’s Hockey Championship match between US and Canada. It’s been a very exciting game based on the spontaneous cheers and groans coming from Clint.

The cloudy winter season and shorter days here in the Bay Area shows up in our solar energy generation for the month. I find it interesting that the lowest production day of the month is in fact on December 21, winter solstice.

The service we get from Horizon Energy Systems who installed our panels and then put us on the beta program for website solar production monitoring is still excellent. It’s one thing to get excellent service during and right after the purchase of a system, another to still get it after almost a year of installation. During our visit out to Ottawa, Canada, our DSL internet line went down and Horizon detected that they weren’t getting updates on our solar production and gave me a call to see if everything was alright.
