In 2008, after desperately searching for the perfect raised planter box for an urban vegetable garden and coming up empty-handed, I decided to design my own. I found that by building my own, I was able to construct the planter box to the exact dimensions that would maximize the garden area in the available space along my side yard.
I spent many hours and days gathering inspiration from different planter box designs and sketching out a design that would be sturdy and timeless.
When I started to post articles here on Stark Insider about my experiences growing tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and basil in my little urban garden, several readers asked for my plans. It still is really cool when a reader who has downloaded the plans emails me photos of their final project results.
