A couple of weeks ago, Clint and I finally met up with Pat and Baja Barry at their home for an evening of some more holiday eating and drinking. I love the way Pat and Baja Barry have their home decorated…especially these blue glass bottles and jars that adorn their living room which opens up to a skylight above.

It was the perfect spot for some smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill on top of blinis paired with white wine. The little pancakes were the perfect base for the saltiness of the salmon and the sweetness of the cream cheese.

Dinner started off with a Caesar salad, followed on by chicken adorned with a sweet tangy sauce that included prunes and paired with a risotto. Amidst the wine, some mezcal (Wikipedia: “…a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the maguey or agave plant that is native to Mexico.”) was served along with a story about one certain individual who ingested the worm that is at the bottom of a bottle of mezcal.

For dessert, we brought over a chocolate cheesecake from a local bakery in Almaden which was very dense and rich. Perhaps a little too much on its own, but with some coffee to balance it out, it was divine.

I recall taking some photos of Clint and Barry on that evening but I can’t find them on my camera. I did end up with several photos of Pat and yours truly. Oh well, at least I captured the better and prettier half!
