Check out this dramatic photo posted to Twitter today by a very anxious and concerned bridge crosser. That is a cable and steel fragments, fallen from a cantilever section of the famous Bay Bridge which links San Francisco to Oakland; the bridge that commuters universally loathe.

I can only imagine the heart pounding panic that ensued. Imagine seeing pieces of a bridge fly apart before your very eyes. Are we falling yet?

    Saw sign while on 101 N south of downtown San Jose which noted the Bay Bridge is closed today. From radio, some officials are saying this is the same area they had fixed during the shutdown for bridge repairs over Labor Day.
