BUDDY AND FRIENDS TO PERFORM AT C. DONATIELLO WINERY’S “LIVE FROM THE MIDDLE REACH” MUSIC SERIES

Buddy to Perform Live with Ian Ball and Sara Bareilles August 30th

(Healdsburg, CA, August XX, 2009)— C. Donatiello Winery has announced the return of Buddy to the Live From the Middle Reach music series August 30th, from 1 to 4pm. Buddy will be joined by Ian Ball, the front-man of the popular British band Gomez, as well as Grammy award winner Sara Bareilles, plus additional musical guests, for an afternoon performance at C. Donatiello’s organically-farmed wine country estate. Buddy and Ian performed last year together at C. Donatiello’s intimate Aroma Garden stage.

“Live From the Middle Reach provides a unique up-close concert experience for guests, and it has become a special experience for the artists performing as well.” said Chris Donatiello. “Last year Buddy and Ian Ball’s performances were absolutely brilliant, and we are honored that they are returning, this time with local Northern California native Sara Bareilles, for what is sure to be a memorable event.”

The show is complimentary to winery patrons, and guests have the option of café style seating near the stage, or bringing a blanket or chairs for the lawn. The Organic Aroma Gardens offer breathtaking views of the Russian River Valley, and guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to pair with C. Donatiello wines for the afternoon. Following the performance, concert guests will have the opportunity to meet Buddy, Ian, and Sara in the winery’s gardens.

About Buddy

Los Angeles-based musician Buddy had a following before he ever had a record. By the time he and the band known as Buddy released Alterations and Repairs in fall of 2007, their songs were featured on television shows like Grey’s Anatomy and they were packing in standing room-only shows in Los Angeles.

Buddy’s stunning musicianship and gorgeously lush arrangements will make you want to wrap their music around you like a blanket. Sometimes heart-breakingly raw and fragile, Buddy’s lyrics and vocals also have a soothing and empowering quality that make Alterations and Repairs more poignant with every listen. Buddy’s live show draws out the edge and grit of their seemingly gentle sound and takes their music to a new level. “May we rock you gently?” they ask. Buddy will be performing full band arrangements of songs from “Alterations and Repairs” as well as debuting a few new songs from the bands upcoming record that was co-produced by Ian Ball and mixed by Brian Deck (Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse).

About Ian Ball

Recorded with a sense of urgency and a definite creative burst, Who Goes There is the 2007 debut solo album from Ian Ball. A beautifully lo-fi departure from his usual work with UK rock band Gomez, Who Goes There is packed with Ball’s signature melodies and charmingly clever lyrics.

After playing to fantastic response at outdoor festivals like Seattle’s Bumbershoot and Austin City Limits, Ball brings his music to C. Donatiello Winery’s “Live From the Middle Reach” music series. Anyone who has seen Ian Ball play live knows they can expect a grab-bag of musical wizardry that will leave them wanting more. Sprinkled into his set of solo material and stripped-down arrangements of Gomez songs, one may also find a raucous cover from Supertramp to Wilco.

Also Ian is about to do a run of St Peppers & the Lonely Hearts Club Band Tribute shows in Vegas with Cheap Trick at the Vegas Hilton.

About Sara Bareilles

It wasn’t long before Sara burst onto the pop scene and signed a record deal with Epic Records. Her latest album, Little Voice, is the product of nearly a year in the studio exploring and crafting her passionately beautiful sound. She has been compared to Norah Jones and Fiona Apple, yet offers an interestingly unique sound all her own.

Sara’s 2007 released tune, Love Song, achieved the number one position on Billboard’s Pop chart, and officially launched a major mainstream music career for the young singer songwriter. Sara’s musical start came as she finished college in Los Angeles and began performing locally in bars and clubs, building a following with her emotional, soulful sound.
