Baby Hummingbirds Arrive in Loreto Bay

Guest post by Jane Lurie.

A baby hummingbird has been in our back courtyard all day. He has been hopping around one of our chairs and flying to our more aromatic plants. Near our home, our neighbor Bruce H. discovered a hummingbird nest in a tree with a baby in it. These are the sweetest birds and the air is filled with spirit when they are around. Here is a photo of the baby in the nest.

How do you tell a baby hummingbird from a full-grown hummingbird? Seems like it would be the same as trying to decide if an ant walking past you is a baby ant or a grown-up! :)
