It’s been about 2 weeks since our last check-in (2009 Loreto Calendar: How you can join in the fun) and we thought it was about time we gave you an update on how we are doing in our effort to support this year’s charity, Animalandia.

We’ve also got an exciting announcement about the 2010 calendars.

Drum roll please…

So far we have sold 55 calendars and raised $601 for Animalandia. This is fantastic! Thank you to all who have supported this effort.

For those that still don’t have a spiffy 2009 Loreto Calendar, there is still time. Get your very own, support Animalandia and have your name immortalized on the 2009 StarkSilverCreek Hall of Fame.

The other announcement is that Clint and I have decided to make this an annual charity initiative and we will be making a call for photo submissions in next couple of months. If you are an aspiring photographer or a pro, start thinking about photos you may want as part of the 2010 Loreto Calendar.

Stay tuned!

Interesting how a bunch of doggies and kitties gives you the inspiration to raise money for them but the human CHILDREN in miramar and la colonia that are living in cardboard boxes and tarpaper shacks don't receive even a tenth of that same attention from you hypocrite opportunists.

There are many ways people inspire me to help make a positive difference in this world we all share.

This is our first year trying out a calendar drive and it is heartwarming to be part of a community that has shown us such support.

This year we have chosen the charity Animalandia. This is a great organization that has done fantastic work.

I would be interested in people's ideas for next year's charity. Care to give specific suggestions?

You do raise a good point about the need for helping children. In fact, I have already been considering next year's benefactor to be an orphanage or an educational institution helping those less fortunate.

The need in our communities world-wide is great and this is only a small effort which is far from perfect. Yet we try and hope it is a step in the right direction.

Very humbling.
I believe eufemio is pretty clueless as to the positive effect that the gringo/expat population of Loreto has had on the children of Loreto. There are several organizations including the Optimists and Rotary that provide assistance to many of the schools and youth organizations in town. A large number of people assist at the Internado school. At Christmas they collect toys for the children.

Eufemio needs to crawl out of his hole (or cardboard shack) and look around.

Here is one such event coming up:
INTERNADO POSADA AND WRAPPING PRESENTS

HERE WE GO AGAIN AND I ACTUALLY THINK THIS IS YEAR 16. THAT DESERVES A BIG HOORAY.

FIRST MY THANKS TO ALL MY LOYAL WRAPPERS WHO CAN MAKE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PRESENTS OUT OF HE MOST DIFFICULT SHAPES.

WRAPPING WILL BE AT THE INTERNADO ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16. WE WILL START AT 9. THERE WILL BE LOTS OF PRESENTS TO WRAP, 70 STUDENTS, BUT LOTS OF COOKIES AND COFFEE WILL KEEP US MOVING. I FIND THAT I AM SHORT OF TAPE AND RIBBON AND THOSE NICE LITTLE BOWS THAT YOU JUST STICK ON. IF YOU HAVE SOME PLEASE BRING THEM ALONG.

THE POSADA, THE BEST SHOW IN TOWN, WILL BE ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18 STARTING AT 3PM. BRING A JACKET. EVERYONE IS INVITED TO SEE THE DESTRUCTION OF 8 PINATAS, SINGING, DANCING AND THE BEST PART OF ALL WHICH IS GIVING A SPECIAL GIFT TO EACH CHILD. TRUST ME THIS IS THE MOST FUN YOU WILL HAVE.

I WANT TO PERSONALLY INVITE ALL OUR NEW LORETANOS TO COME AND JOIN US THIS YEAR. I USE TO KNOW EVERYONE, BUT NOT ANYMORE.
