Stark Wine Cellar Open for Business…Sort Of

Cellar_door5We finally got tired of seeing the mahogany wine cellar door taking up one car slot in our garage. So we got our trusty contractor in to install the door.

If you recall, a while back, I had asked all of you whether I should stain and finish the door before or after hanging. After getting advice from some of you and searching online, it became apparent to me that I needed to hang the door (since I got a pre-hung door) and then take the door off to stain and finish. Well, I am proud to say that the first part of this is done…yours truly still has to stain the door. It is all part of a grand plan to squeeze another blog entry out of this subplot.

One piece of advice for those that may get into the same predicament as I and fall in love with a door one sees online. When you measure the width of the existing door opening, make sure when you put in the order for the door, that you compensate for the door jambs. I had measured the opening at 30″ so I ordered a door that was 30″ in width. Well, with the jamb included, the space needed was about 31″. Luckily, my dear contractor bailed me out.

At the rate I am going, I think I’ll be finally done mid 2008…that is if work doesn’t get even busier.
